Scholarship Opportunities

SEAONC is pleased to announce its annual College Scholarship Program, which provides support to college students pursuing a career in structural engineering.  This program is intended for both undergrad and graduate students, with an emphasis on undergrad students.  The Program submittal requirements, submittal process, evaluation criteria, and award description will be announced in the Spring. 

Eligibility  

Eligible candidates include undergraduate students (including students transferring from community college) and graduate students who:

  1. Will be enrolled in a structural engineering degree program
  2. Will be enrolled in a civil engineering program with structural focus 

Program Evaluation and Grading Criteria

The SEAONC Scholarship Committee will review all applications. Copies of all applications may be shared with the SEAONC Board of Directors. The submission of an application indicates that the applicant has approved distribution to these groups. Scholarship awards will be granted using the Committee’s subjective evaluation of the applicant’s stated interest in the structural engineering profession, education plans, academic performance, involvement in organizations/chapters/clubs/activities, demonstrated leadership qualities, documented financial need, and strong ties to northern California.   

Awarding of the Scholarships

Scholarship Awards Applicants will be notified of a scholarship award by the Board of Directors.  The SEAONC Past President will invite all scholarship award recipients to attend the SEAONC SEE Awards Dinner Meeting in May. Each scholar recipient will be acknowledged and introduced to the meeting attendees. Arrangements for guest attendance will be managed by the SEAONC office. Recipients shall submit written confirmation of enrollment at one of the approved universities to receive scholarship payment at the SEE Awards or may receive payment once documentation is provided at the start of their term.
