About
New graduates enter our offices facing a huge learning curve as they transition from students to professionals. They get hit with things like the building code, drafting, coordinating with other design professionals, plan check processes, and construction. New hires need to learn a whole new set of skills to become successful professional structural engineers. For most of us, spending adequate time teaching basic background information to new hires, especially for smaller firms and those that work from home can be beyond daunting.
The SEAONC New Grad Initiative (NGI) is intended to assist our members (firm owners and new grads) make an easier transition. The NGI is predicated upon providing new hires with important information needed to successfully and quickly transition into the workplace, through the use of SEAONC developed resources. These resources are free to all SEAONC members. They can be used by new graduates for self-learning or project managers to on-board for new hires.
