About this event

SAP Evaluator Training
This year’s SAP Evaluator Training will be held at Stanford University. This will be a full-day training with hands-on case studies, and will provide breakfast, lunch, and an ATC-20-1 Field Manual. This is a great opportunity to join the SAP Program, renew your expired certification, or renew a certification expiring soon.
The Safety Assessment Program (SAP) utilizes mutual aid resources and volunteers in the form of professional engineers, architects, and certified building inspectors to assist local governments by performing post-disaster building evaluations. The program is managed by the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) with cooperation from professional organizations, including SEAONC.
Attendees who are licensed professionals (Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineers; Architects; Geologists; Certified Building Inspectors) will obtain digital SAP ID cards issued by Cal OES. Those without a professional license may still attend the training, and can contact Cal OES upon licensure to update their status to “Evaluator”. Note that after SAP certification, participation in deployments is voluntary.
Our training is led by SEAONC members with experience in post-disaster safety evaluation at various incidents, including at the recent LA fires. Past participants have commented especially on the value of the hands-on afternoon case studies.
